Reasons I Love Athleta Leggings
I love Athleta leggings because they find the line between cute, comfortable, and durable and are offered in sizes that actually fit. As a petite hiker, finding hiking clothes that actually fit can be tough, especially on the bottom. Athleta offers petite specific sizing as well as regular sizing that goes small enough for fit.

Petites, of course, aren’t the only hikers who can have trouble finding great hiking gear. Athleta also offers tall sizes and up to 3X for others who may have trouble finding athletic gear in their size.
In fact, as I write this, I’m sitting in a pair of long Athleta leggings from over five years ago that I have worn on countless runs, and hike…and they are still holding strong with plenty of elasticity and no holes!
Tips for Buying Athleta Hiking Pants
Don’t Pay Full Price. I mean, you can, but if you can wait a few days to a few weeks for a sale or go with a slightly different style, you can save A LOT of money. Or, sign-up for an Athleta or Banana Republic credit card and get coupons back that are like cash in the store. (Full disclosure: I benefit from my mom’s credit card points.)
Read the Description. Look for leggings that are either designated as for hiking or for moderate to high intensity activity. These ones tend to be more durable and have more pockets compared to leggings focused more on yoga (though, you can certainly wear those in many cases too.) Also read what type of benefits the material offers, e.g. wind or water resistance.
Look for Pockets. Even if you’re carrying a CamelBak, it’s nice to have pockets for items you want to quickly access like your phone, or your first snack.
