Looking for a versatile dry weather adventure-to-town pant for women that isn’t leggings?  KÜHL Kontour Skinny may be what you need.

I love leggings and like I mentioned in this post about hiking in pants vs. hiking in shorts, I wear leggings on the vast majority of my hikes.  But sometimes I just want to mix it up a little or be able to quickly transition from hiking or camping to a bite or beer in town without changing or looking like thaaaaat much of a dirt bag.

Historically, I have not had much luck finding something that worked and came in my size (usually need a petite short in pants).  So, when KÜHL offered me the opportunity to try a pair of their Kontour Skinny pants, I jumped at it.  I’ve now worn the pants on a number of hiking adventures – and even slept in them on one in-car camping trip.  With that background, here are my thoughts on the pants.

Quick Review of KÜHL’s Kontour Skinny Women’s Pants

Best For
Dry weather camping, hiking, and casual in town use

Avoid For
Wet weather or very hot sweaty hikes

Things I like About the Kontour Skinny

  • Draw string on inside of pants
  • Still look great after a few washes
  • Flattering feminine fit (including in the back)
  • Jean-like look but not jeans
  • Don’t stretch out or feel loose at the end of the day
  • Versatility love that I can adventure and roam town in these
  • Comfortable all day
  • Durable feel and so far no visible signs of wear like pilling, pulling, or ripping
  • KUHL is a privately  owned company with a strong reputation for quality outdoor products and caring about how they are produced
  • Multiple inseam sizes available
  • The color options (I went with Antique Rose)

In the Next Version I’d Love to See

Deeper and/or zippered pockets

Sizing Notes

  • For me: I’m usually a 00 and the 0 was a perfect fit for me.  I think I’m a 30″ inseam usually so went with the 31″ which was a little long.  I will try 29″ on my next KÜHL purchase.
  • Other Reviews: Reviews from others pretty consistently note that KÜHL pant sizing tends to run a little small.  Quite a few people seem to go down up one size from normal.  (Also consistent with my experience)

Other Notes
Technically, KÜHL calls these a “travel pant,” but I really like them for light dry weather hiking or going from campsite to small hike or just to mix it up from jeans in everyday life.
